Edgar Degas and a Modern Ballerina

I remember when I was little, I went to the D.I.A. with my mom, aunt, cousin, and grandma to see the special exhibit on Edgar Degas. I walked out of there with a poster of one of the pieces that would stay hung in my room for years and years.

From that moment, he became one of my favorite artists because of the way he so elegantly captured some of the most beautiful moments of a ballerina. I still love his work today, and now even more so.

Harper’s Bazaar did a photo shoot with ballerina Misty Copeland to re-create some of Degas’s most famous pieces, and it turned out absolutely beautifully. For those of you that are dancers or just love the look of ballerinas, you’ll definitely love this.

On top of the pictures, they did a very cool article on Misty and what it’s like to be a dancer. Check it out –and let me know what your favorite piece is!
