Nothing is cooler to me than hidden gems you find in the city. And an alleyway bar with popular artists’ murals on the walls surrounding it is definitely one of those gems.
You can find The Skip between Broadway & Library Street, behind The Z parking lot. It rests smack dab in the middle of The Belt, which is “home to murals and installations by local, national and international artists”.
The Skip, coming from the creators of Standby (another bar you can find in The Belt), has a list of their own cocktail creations as well as plenty of classics to choose from. From original cocktails like “Just a Friend” (montenegro amaro, allspice, cinnamon, grapefruit, & lime with rum, tequila, or cachaca) to local Michigan beers, there’s something for everyone all wrapped up in a a very chill atmosphere.
It’s only open from spring to fall, so make sure you stop by soon! Whether grabbing a drink before heading around the corner to Punch Bowl Social or hanging out for the entire night, The Skip is definitely a bar to add to your Detroit bucket list this summer. I know I’ll be back!
